Next time you are in Las Vegas, try the Daniel Boloud there.(in the Wynn Hotel)
WONDERFUL! Same wait staff through out the meal. Short Ribs as good as they can get. Perfect meal.

i don’t know why, but daniel seems to be a love-hate institution… i’ve heard both sides and i guess i’m opposite to you.

i suspect that being known there does help, but i do think there was more to it than just that… i was just not that impressed. i do admit that not having wine might also discount my experience.

re: venetian decor – point taken and well appreciated.

so, other than daniel – any other favorites in the big apple?

What a pity. I enjoyed reading your review while trying to explain the differences in our opinions of this restaurant. I know we’ve never had a disappointing meal there and I’m having no success trying to think of a course that’s misfired. In spite of having abused alcohol to some small degree as a youth, I’ve now come to respect the art of fine winemaking as one of the highest endeavors among the culinary arts and a meal at Daniel without wine seems a cruel fate. It is, of course, food desgned to be had with wine, but I suspect that’s not the sole excuse for our different perspectives. Perhaps the fact that I’m known there plays a larger role than I’d care to admit, but the reason I’m known there stems from our first impression of our first meal many years ago. For the first time, my wife and I agreed on our favorite restaurant.

The “Venetian” interior, by the way, is pretty much something the restaurant inherited from the existing space and while it’s not my preferred style, I give credit to Daniel for preserving an elegant piece of NY architectural history.
